China 2007 - Part One

Year of the Pig....

Beauty ideals in China.

Anna Sui advertisement.

Very typically Beijing view.

Friendly girl sitting in front of a fancy restaurant. All the waitresses were wearing this outfit plus..

These shoes!

Streetview seen from the taxi.

High end hotel with traditional porch.

The contrast between styles is sometimes really unbelievable in Beijing.

Like said: the year of the Pig.. ;-) In all its ugliness.

This was our first night in Beijing, S&K trying Beijing Duck. I was not so happy with the view.

Beautifull cover from the menu card

And the classy Chinese interior of the restaurant.

What I totally loved about China, were those magazine covers and adds! The girls always look stunning!

Hmm, strange vehicle crossing...

I dont like to know what this is good for...

Minority tourist dolls.

I found them FANTASTIC!!

Wall painting from a traditional character from the Beijing opera, just somewhere, nowhere...

That's me just before going to the Forbidden City.

And there it is, the first fairytale roof of the palace.

Chinese people are not fond on being photographed, I did it anyway.

You always see the same series of figures on the roofs of the palace.

This is the first real view on the entrance square of the Forbidden City, it's wonderfull!

K and me in front of the entrance.

They even have Playmobil for adults!

The first square of the palace.

I still didnt realize that there were still...hmm, about 10 more squares to come?

The dragons with their magical pearl. (the pearl gives the dragon the power to fly)

Symbolic eyes on the end of every roof, to keep the evil away.

I was so blown away by the beauty of the palace, the colour combination...

so I have been making a lot of photographs..there was so much to see, I tried to capture the spirit of this place..

S & K had to wait all the time for me... photographing every single detail...and there was a lot...

These lionhead door-nockers were just great!

Me, very happy, but also very ill and very jet-laggy.

Huge red lanterns!

And the last square was the most impressive, the garden of the emperor.

These are the 5 mascots for the Olympic games in Beijing 2008, I think they look very cute!

Photoshoot in a private palace...

The actual pictures of this shoot will be set in the "fairytale" gallery on my website.

A funny picture of S., me and K. wearing my sari. (you can see how cold it was!)

The "moon-portals".

A friendly kid we met on the street.

And this is where the normal Chinese people do live. (modern Hutong)

This is a "vehicle" you see very often in China, it's a covered 3wheel motorcycle.

The advertisements are just GREAT!

Another Hutong street.

Cute kids..same size as the trashcan.

Girl working in a bakery shop, yes, a bakery shop.

Pretty drumtower somewhere in Beijing.

Very typical chinese dog, in front of a door.

Porches and doors are fabulous sometimes.. We found this one just by accident.

Traffic..mostly hectic!

The trash-collector-man, truly...

His shop.

Another shop with... trash?
