china 2007 - part 6

We met this cruel fellow in a Buddhistic temple in Guilin.

I just found this über-cool! Yes, I am the man with the long eyebrows! ;-)

People burning huge torches of incense for the Feast Of The Dead.

Daily burning of the peoples' requests and prayers.

We were just in time to experience a Buddhistic ceremony.

It was really interesting, they were singing and making weird music...

This child found it rather...boring.

Here you can see how beautifully located the temple is. On top of the right hill, you see a small pagoda.

Enormous incense burning vat.

This are the decorations that the people lay on the graves... all made of plastic, very Chinese.

Moon portal, a nice one!

The older men playing their games.

And then suddenly we met this Anime-girl!

Another of this picture-place stuff with peacocks.

I wish I could take this one with me to Belgium!! (sigh)

I know, I know, that so over the border touristic...but this was our last day in the south, I just had to do it...:-))

When you moved the bamboo stick, the birds opened their wings to find stability..
They were heavy and I didnt really trust them...

But they look handsome though...

Married couple who gave us sweets.

Bicycle repair-shop.

Local wok-restaurant.

Billiard/ pool-club.

Yes, another restaurant..

Bakery shop

Wok restaurant. The food looked nice, but you better dont try these kind of things unless you want to be really ill..

Shop in the modern part of the city.

And we got to fly back to Beijing in this cool "Olympics 2008" airplane.

Fantastic pictures in the airport from Beijing!!

Very Chinese contrasts in Beijing. (this is so-China!!)

Hyper cute dragonlion we discovered by chance.

I found this one totally likeable!

Dusty bicycles... because of the dust rain in Beijing..

I wondered what kind of animal this is.

Next pictures: just strange things we came across by walking through a weird kind of community house complex.

Aha, and this is the hotel where we, unfortunately, didnt stay....

The Cube, a flashy discotheque.

The Temple of Heaven. Speaking of colour overdose?

Masses of stalls with insence.

Pretty silk kites.

Just read it... the next picture also! :-))

I heard a tourgide telling this: "How can you see if a dragonlion is male or female?"

The male always carries a magic bowl...

While the female...

holds her claws over a little baby! (I found that so cute)

Creepy statues in the Temple of Lama in Beijing.

Interesting 4-eyed figure.

Creepy Disneyland-styled-thing!

This fellow is actually making love to a pretty lady! Look what he is holding in his hands...brains?

Oh yummi!!
By the way, she has a fancy necklace! Very gothic! ;-)

The guardian giant turtle.

Parrot-friend in a shop.

An over-the-border-ugly-statues-shop.
